на днях браузер установил. Оказалось, для него расширений то толком нет.
Я правильно понимаю, что и переводчик сейчас отсутствует?

Переводчики можно поискать в архиве расширений(до перехода на Web Extensions) Firefox - Classic Add-ons Archive, но ничего лучше(всё равно посредственного) S3 Translator там скорее всего нет(как минимум я не находил).
Впн в виде расширения быть не может. Это в любом случае просто прокси, завёрнутый в расширение. Реальные ВПН бывают только в виде программ/драйверов(OpenVPN, WireGuard) или подключений через управление сетями системы(L2TP/IPSec, SSTP).

перешёл я по ссылочке, попробовал через сайтовский поисковик отыскать - нет ничего, говорит. И оглавления нет

Classic Add-ons Archive - это расширение включающие архив расширений и интерфейс к нему.

Прикол и в том, что PM (у меня не самая новая версия 31.2.0.1, я через актуального Лиса лез) не все сайты полностью отображает, ну и про всякие NOSCRIPT забывать нельзя.
А ca-archive - ставите и все, у вас доступ к старым расширениям.
