Web-installer updated

Unread post by Moonchild » 2012-04-16, 22:50

The web-installer (on-line installer) for Pale Moon has been updated to a new version (v2.5)
The update involves a new choice when the program is started, adding a choice to either use a Quick install or an Advanced install.

Notes:
  • The Quick install option will check your system's capabilities and select the recommended version of Pale Moon based on CPU capability.
  • Because 64-bit support in terms of plug-ins is still very limited and the 64-bit browser is slightly more prone to causing system instability or graphical glitches (due to less stable 64-bit system-level drivers in Windows), the x64 version will currently never be considered "recommended" even if you have a 64-bit O.S. You will have to select "Advanced install" if you want the 64-bit version of the browser.
  • Quick install uses all default locations for the application and profile. You will not have an option to choose your own. This was done to make it truly a "1-click" installation.
More improvements are planned for the future for the on-line installer. This is just a first step to streamlining the installation process. In the future, the web-installer will become the strongly preferred method of installing Pale Moon.
