Release date is set at Friday, March 23rd.
Pale Moon v11, based on the Firefox 11 release branch code, is currently in its later stages of development. There will be a few changes to Pale Moon compared to its sibling to stay with the main goal of providing a general purpose browser for the largest common user base:
- Contrary to Firefox extending the web developer tools section with gadgets like (feature-limited) Tilt and eye-candy rich HTML inspectors, Pale Moon will be cutting this functionality out of the core to leave only basic tools that would be useful for troubleshooting (e.g. the error console) but otherwise have developers rely on their favorite add-ons for web development like the ever popular Firebug, and the more extensive version of Tilt as an add-on, if desired.
Note: The initial release of Pale Moon 11 still has the code for these tools included because other parts of the browser (specifically the session manager) depend on devtools components to be available. The tools are, however, disabled to not unnecessarily use resources. - The familiar interface will be maintained, including the status bar which, from here on, will be fully integrated functionality (no longer supplied as an add-on). To clarify: it will remain fully configurable and easy to disable like before for people who want a minimalist interface in their browser.
- Main improvements to the back-end are implemented, like a fix for the animated images bug that has plagued Firefox since v4, the implementation of SPDY and further HTML5 and CSS improvements and implementations (e.g. CSS transforms)
