Pale Moon 15.3.x (latest) -> 15.4 lags again

Post by tuxman » 2013-01-17, 15:56

Heyho,

automatic update of today brought back the lags. Admittedly, this time the task manager does not show high values, but still Pale Moon reacts slow as hell and is "not responding" every two or three clicks. Restarting did not solve it, it started when I disabled the Java plug-in. Enabled it again, not helping either...

edit: OK, about 24 % CPU usage for a short moment when I try to open new tabs...

Do you try a new profile?

Or uninstall complete java and if you need it, install it again but better deactivate this then again, cause java isn't secure at the moment.

Actually the profile is pretty "new", and it made no problems over Pale Moon 15.x. :)
Wondering.

edit:
I would uninstall Java but TV-Browser relies on it.

Maybe. I'll try to look at it later. :)

Maybe an obvious thing to try but easy to skip if you don't think about it: disable the java plugin, then restart your computer. Disabling java on-the-fly might not work well because the java plugin is an exception to the plugin-container rule.

Reboot helped a bit, I am still experiencing (quite) short freezes.

All issues are fixed in 15.4.1.
Don't ask me why...?

Really good question, indeed. a very elusive problem to say the least.

Yup, but known. I had that before, the next minor update fixed it.

I'd presume something in the After-Update routines is not finished properly.

Well if there's an issue with the internal updater on your particular system, you can always download the regular installer and run it "as administrator" to upgrade Pale Moon.

I have not checked if the issue is related to the built-in updater. I couldn't "reproduce" it anyway, as the system state after installing an update will always be different.

Hence my proposal.
