I think I solved the problem. In about:config, I set "browser.chrome.image_icons.max_size" to 0, and have not had a single favicon creep into my bookmarks again. I wonder why that was necessary, considering that with Firefox and SeaMonkey all that is needed is to block site icons and favicons.

If blah.com is secure then click on the padlock; if insecure click on the favicon then "more information".

In both cases you can then set notification prefs on a site specific basis under "permissions".

This may or may not be better than setting a global pref...

Probably the extension was really corrupted, try to re-download bookmarkfaviconchanger229.xpi from Older version page on MediaFire.

When I attempt to drag-and-drop or install via the Gear's "Install Add-on From File" the following message appears as shown in the attached image.

I am using the most current version of Pale Moon on Win7 Pro.

NOTE: I downloaded the xpi file again and it installed successfully.
