Re: Built PM for Linux Mint 17.3; have installation issues

How familiar are you with the Debian packaging system which Mint also uses? I admit that my /debian/copyright file needs a lot of work, since separating out which files in the source are covered by the Mozilla public License and if there are others under other licenses looks like a monumental task t...

Re: Ubuntu 14.04, 16.04, 16.10, 17.04, Debian 7, 8, 9 Pale Moon repositories

I spoke too soon..I assumed that it would build, based on the success for Debian Buster, but it's failing with some new compiler error. So 18.04 users will have to use the rebundled binary version in the repo instead.

Re: palemoon for new users

It doesn't look like Puppy comes with a user manual, eh? Just like Windows! MX Linux ships with a pretty good one aimed at beginners and switchers, but be warned it's quite a chore to create and maintain. Perhaps you could drum up users to create a similar one for Puppy. Link to PDF of MX 17 user ma...

Re: Ubuntu 14.04, 16.04, 16.10, 17.04, Debian 7, 8, 9 Pale Moon repositories

Oops, checked just now, and gcc-4.9 had finished building for 18.04, but Pale Moon wasn't "seeing" it as an available build-depend. It turns out I had that switched off for new repos by default for gcc-4.9, so flipped the switch and PM is building now. It should be ready within an hour or so.

Re: Ubuntu 14.04, 16.04, 16.10, 17.04, Debian 7, 8, 9 Pale Moon repositories

I'm currently working on getting Ubuntu 18.04 source builds in the repo, now that the OBS has repos for 18.04. The first step is to get gcc-4.9.4 built for it. 18.04 has gcc-4.8 available, but the PM developers prefer 4.9 if at all possible. I had to also make some small changes to the build files s...

Are you talking about Bleachbit? I doubt it supports the Pale Moon cache cleaning, but one could always ask the BB developers to add the feature.

Re: Ubuntu 14.04, 16.04, 16.10, 17.04, Debian 7, 8, 9 Pale Moon repositories

Well, yeah, I admit that the copyright file needs a lot of work. It really didn't have one at all when I bought the sources in from the abandoned PPA. And it mixes a zillion files from Mozilla with the Mozilla license with a zillion files from PM under their license, and I don't know how to find and...

Re: Streaming movie won't play

I guess that they don't have any support you could ask, or don't have a clue about anything Linux, as is so sadly often the case? What you describe for Firefox matches what it does when downloading the widevine DRM plugin files, which is how they work around not including those closed plugins with t...

Re: A Pale Moon repo for Devuan/Debian

What about a separate palemoon-nodbus package, like my palemoon-nonsse2 one for ye olde CPUs? I have to ask what the purpose of this mozconfig, too: mk_add_options MOZ_OBJDIR=/home/$USER/pmbuild/ It restricts a packager to building it in that one location only. I can't see the reason for that when o...

Now uploading the source files for Pale Moon 27.8.3, Pale Moon nonsse2, and the repacked binary variant for package builds. They should be done fairly soon. Offtopic--the female coyote in my avatar pic showed up with the two males for the first time in two months! I don't know where she's been, but ...

Re: "The following packages cannot be authenticated"

Could be because they prefer apt, or that my repo has a few other packages that are patched for Pale Moon support, such as oxygen-gtk and mozplugger.

If it's my repo, you must correctly install the repository key as shown in the instructions. If it still has problems, please show us the terminal output of the command to download and install the key.

Re: Text Vanished

How are you installing Pale Moon---from the installer script, manually, or from the OBS repo?

Could it have anything to do with the way the official PM binaries are built using gcc-4.9, and Mint 17 only has 4.8?

Re: Providing of uclibc / musl patches in attendance of pale moon sourcecode change

Do these patches exist anywhere? Do they live out there in thoughtspace with the clang patches?

And I'm arm-waving here, but I think a better solution would be for the build system to detect what compiler is in use and adapt appropriately.

Re: Ubuntu 14.04, 16.04, 16.10, 17.04, Debian 7, 8, 9 Pale Moon repositories

Hi guys, I'm using Mint and palemoon. However, I'm having some issues occasionally and I went to IRC channel asks help. One of the wonderful guys there told me to come here and ask about a more specific repo to improve my performance. Which one should I choose? You should choose the Ubuntu 16.04 re...
