Re: Info on DNS blacklisting in browser

Pale Moon uses the DNS server set in the system. In Ubuntu it is 127.0.0.53 which is systemd-resolve. systemd-resolve gets the DNS server via NetworkManager or Netplan. If you just installed Ubuntu and did not configure Netplan, you have to use NetworkManager to change the DNS. Default is DHCP for I...

Re: Processor has sse2 but cannot install.

Use his repo instead to make sure you stay updated.
The repo package does not include the internal updater because apt will do the work for you.

Re: Pale Moon refuses to run for me unless I run as administrator

After you have installed the update via the assistant (also via auto updater if enabled) you need to restart the browser. After this process updater.exe will be called and that need admin privileges if PM is installed via the Installer and so need access to folders that can't be edited by normal use...

What PM version are you running?
Is it the official version from palemoon.org?

Re: Pale Moon refuses to run for me unless I run as administrator

Please check what process (UAC shows that) requires admin privileges?
The updater.exe needs that and it only works properly if UAC is turned ON.

Re: Flash Plug-in

You have to keep the offline installer.
The normal installer is just a downloader helper application and downloads Flash from Adobe's server, but that will be shutting down at the end of the year.

Re: Adding own rules to a HTTPS Everywhere fork

Sorry i based my comment on the fact that google is planning on making all websites https in the future. Google basically can't prevent web server operator from serving websites via http. They could just remove such sites from their search index and remove support for them in Chromium/Google Chrome...

HTTP1.0 / 1.1 are never going away. Only after IPv4 death and that's DECADES out.
HTTP1.0/1.1 use TCP and TCP can be used via IPv4 and IPv6, so HTTP 1.0/1.1 will still be available when IPv6 is completely established.

Re: Adding own rules to a HTTPS Everywhere fork

Use HTTPS Always instead.
https://addons.palemoon.org/search/?terms=https

You can also install HTTPS Inquirer that creates the custom rulesets for you automatically if a webpage is served via http and supports https.

Re: HTTP3 support.

"Fear of becoming irrelevant despite evidence to the contrary" is exactly what set Mozilla on its current path. And guess what? They are becoming irrelevant regardless. Another issue is that UDP as a web protocol underpinning will likely not be allowed in many environments because they can't be pro...

Re: HTTP3 support.

No. We don't "have to" anything. HTTP is a basic protocol on the internet that, if anything, has a very very long lifetime before a change can be enforced, no matter how much certain players might want it. See http 1.1: it isn't going away anytime soon, either. This is true, but if widely used web ...

Re: HTTP3 support.

Google implemented it so we have to implement that in future here to make Google's site accessible.
You can see what happened with WebComponents, it is also implemented on non-Google sites.

Re: Restore classic Youtube?

They also seem to abandon support for Internet Explorer 11, that also doesn't seem to use the new Polymer design yet. IE 11 can't use Polymer, period. It simply doesn't have the feature set available to use this Blink-specific framework. That means it is real that IE users can't access YouTube anym...

Re: Restore classic Youtube?

Please use the Firefox compatible User Agent as default. Then use the site-specific User Agent general.useragent.override.youtube.com to set a special one for YouTube. Just set the Firefox version to 42, that worked for me some days ago, but doesn't anymore. It sometimes works, but as I said, they w...

I don't know any and I think YouTube will also make them unusable in future.
You can read viewtopic.php?f=66&t=23762&e=1&view=unread#unread, there is something written with Greasemonkey, but I don't know if that still works.

My crystal ball says that this is not persistent.

Google will shut down that old interface soon, they're processing that right now.

I experienced sound lagging with normal Flash Player on Linux, even with the standalone version from adobe and also in SeaMonkey.
Also on different systems, all with Ubuntu from 17.04 to 20.04.
With the pepper-based one no problems, I used Freshplayer-Wrapper.

Do you see any message of a non-responding script?
Then tell us the name of the script.
Maybe that is the WebComponents shit that causes high CPU usage in Pale Moon.
