Disable the DNS Client service then ;) HostsMan has a big button to enable/disable it on the fly.

Re: Is Spyware Blaster worth it?

SpywareBlaster does a few more things than just block some known bad cookies, and it does that passively - no weight added to the browsers. Update it every few weeks, use it to save your hosts file (another great passive blocking tool, I use HostsMan and hpHosts) and recover it, should it become cor...

Re: Pal moon x32 freezes on startup

You state that Firefox does the same, this points towards a global bug/limitation that's affecting Mozilla -based software. Could it be related to the Vista>W7 upgrade (perhaps using a Vista graphics driver?) - or was it a clean install? From about:support , do you see any problems in the graphics s...

Re: I am forced to switch to Firefox :(

To install Avast's WebReb, copy the contents of C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\WebRep\FF to your Desktop then create a zip file with them called WebRep.xpi; drag that file into a Pale Moon window and install it, restart Pale Moon to activate.

Once done, delete the files and zip/xpi.

Does this only happen while trying to manually clear the cache, ie. there's no sign of problems in normal/extended Pale Moon usage?

Re: Integrating a few features in PM

I guess #3 is fixable using the Element Properties Add-on, which "Returns the 'Properties' menu item that was removed in Firefox 3.6 to the context menu"? About this Add-on This add-on replaces the Properties dialog and context-menu item removed in bug #513147. It is hacked straight from the origina...

Sure there is; enable all the toolbars, go to about:config and toggle browser.tabs.onTop to true and then hit the customize button and start dragging the UI components around.

Re: Adobe releases patched Flash (and AIR).

It looks like it coincides with MS' updates because W8/IE and Flash are now tied; it wouldn't do to have W8's Flash coming out later than Flash for W7 and Moz/Opera browsers, would it ;)

No workaround for a manual Flash install on W8 that I'm aware of.

Re: I hope Pale Moon 25 is released before FF 25

It's kinda usable in safe mode; biggest UI fail cf. Chrome is the Bookmark this page button, especially for a mouse user - couldn't they get it any further away from the scroll bar?! Gonna get the 'old' FF users migrating away in droves with the crippled option set. Can't see them gaining any Chrome...

Re: I hope Pale Moon 25 is released before FF 25

I'm not playing dumb, MC, I really don't know how to get the Awesome (or any other bar that shows me the page I'm on) bar back. That's exactly as it is for me after installing, I've done nothing to it. I don't want to do a reset from about:troubleshooting, it's my Firefox profile, which used to work...

I didn't do a full study first - like most Firefox users, I just installed UX 27a1 (Australis):

Hi and welcome to the forum, Rocky! First check with any security or privacy plugins you have. In (Alt) Tools > Options > Privacy tab, check under the History settings for 3rd party cookies; sometimes, these need to be enabled, for sites visited or the session, to allow for some logins that have a 3...

Thanks for the vote of confidence, MC! I came across a new (to me) benchmark today (https://clubcompy.com/rwBench.jsp "The Real-World Browser Benchmark™") and I thought I'd try to use it to illustrate some of the current differences between Pale Moon and Firefox, with regard to efficiency and CPU/ke...

Re: effect on battery drain?

That really depends on a number of factors; during beta testing of Pale Moon 24 there was one area of massive improvement discovered which we spent some study time on. In that particular scenario, iirc, not only was PM doing the work in ~half the time of Firefox 24, but our (brief) study of CPU/kern...

Re: Social integration included in PM 24?

I just quickly checked file sizes for downloaded .pdf files here, I have 6 that are 41-73MB in size. For most pdf in browser users, that would mean a browser lockup until the files were fully downloaded - if they were hosted on a slow server, that would be a problem even for cable users. Use a light...

Re: Internet Speed Test CPU Hog

W7 x64, XEON E3 1230 v2, HD7850 2GB, 8GB, using Pale Moon 24x 64 and the 512 k B setting you suggested. I see negligible CPU% (2-7%?) with a max. CPU thread usage of 35.8%. PM CPU% hits a high of ~7% - when drawing the final graph. GPU D3D usage ~12-15%. Maybe something in your System needs attentio...
