Re: Spybot S&D: It's time to replace it?
Spybot 1.6.2 is one of the few useful antispyware programs that still works on older Windows OS's (as far back as 98/ME/W2K?). Version 2 is somewhat odd, in comparison, either should still be fine for inoculating a PC against a range of nasties (passive blocks). Update frequency should be improving ...

Re: corrupt fonts with ATI/AMD
It should not affect the HD7800 series yet it affects my HD7850, last tested a few weeks ago with IE11.

Re: corrupt fonts with ATI/AMD
Welcome cdoublejj! My guess is that you're referring to the 'damage' done by KB2670838, if so, I have a HD7850 and it affects me (if I try to run with IE updated to 10 or 11). A little light reading here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=812695 ;) Many other discussion sites will have to...

Re: Can't stream music from Bandcamp
Welcome, marmot and Happy New Year.
I'm on W7x64, Pale Moon x64 v24.2.2, Flash 11.9.900.170 (no Java installed). Works fine for me.
Any further clues, error messages?

In Pale Moon's Status bar options > Download tab > check 'Use classic download window' (not sure what that equates to in about: config, it might be hardwired).

Re: Adobe releases patched Flash (and AIR).
Corrine's blog page (linked earlier) contains links to the full, clean versions of Flash "It is recommended that you either use the auto-update mechanism within the product when prompted, or my preference, the direct download links " <- minimises the risks of unwanted extras. If you're worried about...

Re: Adobe releases patched Flash (and AIR).
Here we go again, already - it's Security Update time for Adobe's Flash, Shockwave and Air. As per usual, to steer clear of unwanted additions and for further details, etc., I advise checking out Corrine's blog and using the direct links available from there: http://securitygarden.blogspot.co.uk/201...

Re: Is HTTPS information put on the harddrive?
Hi Libra,
Using Pale Moon Commander: http://www.palemoon.org/commander.shtml (Tools > Advanced options > Security tab > Privacy) you can check that it is set so that caching data to disk doesn't occur, even if the site allows it (most don't anyway).

Re: Is Resetting Page File Allocation Advisable?
Hmm, only 2GB RAM, the 60GB drive is likely to be slower than the 150 and is close to full anyway; I think I'd try 1-2GB variable on C: and 512MB fixed on D: (total = 1.5GB Allocated) to begin with, keep a close eye on it during the first week or so.

Re: Is Resetting Page File Allocation Advisable?
It would help if you posted your hardware details and your PC usage/style. With multiple drives, tweaking settings for the page file can give performance improvements - Windows (Vista and later, at least) will use the fastest or least active drive, each time it needs to read/write from/to the page f...

Re: Default Volume settings
Hi and welcome, CW
Most often these settings are individual to the software (Flash/HTML5/Silverlight/ ...) and/or the site visited, the data is frequently stored in cookies, so if you regularly delete cookies, then you return to default settings.

Try using Task Manager or Resource Manager to pinpoint the process with the high disk activity.

It's that time of day/month/year again, Flash 11.9.900.152 is out, along with AIR 3.9.0.1210 (just in case someone actually needs/uses AIR); as usual, Corrine's blog is the go to site for clean links (no crapware/toolbars to uncheck/uninstall) and further details: http://securitygarden.blogspot.co.u...

Re: Letter "w" badly formed in PaleMoon
This is something I used to see - sorry but I really don't recall when it was 'fixed' for me, maybe after messing with ClearType, perhaps after removing the Devil's Update (the prerequisite KB for IE9 on W7), after setting ICC profiles, there were also some Windows Update font patches that could hav...

Re: Is Spyware Blaster worth it?
Using a good hosts file will negate the need for the majority of in-browser cookie-blocking, etc., as well as protecting from a huge range of known-bad (malware hosts, drive-by) sites - for the whole System, not just one browser. Side-effects, probably faster browsing and less unnecessary web traffic.
