Re: Adobe Flash

Further digging: Note that the bug isn't in Flash, so this is not something Adobe can fix, nor its it Adobe's fault. ^ and the easy 'fixes': http://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2014/04/27/microsoft-acknowledges-in-the-wild-internet-explorer-zero-day/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Fe...

Re: Adobe Flash

The Flash update doesn't fix the exploit MS are trying to scare XP users with ;) it fixes some reported by Kaspersky: http://www.securelist.com/en/blog/8212/New_Flash_Player_0_day_CVE_2014_0515_used_in_watering_hole_attacks There could be another update in a few days ... for Flash ActiveX users, at ...

Re: Adobe Flash

Possibly in reaction to this: http://www.fireeye.com/blog/uncategoriz ... tacks.html where disabling Flash ActiveX is reported to foil the exploit.

I don't see any release notes yet, though.

I have no problem reading articles and navigating back and forth among pages at http://www.zerohedge.com.
Similar here, I guess my hosts file filters the crap out of it.

Re: Pale moon does not recoginzie https URL as invalid

I'm getting the correct response via OpenDNS.

I use Marc's Updater to keep my IP updated/linked to my free OpenDNS account and I have the DNS failure hijacking turned off.

http://updater.marc-hoersken.de/ OpenDNS have a similar tool but this one, for me, is better.

Re: Add Blocker recommandation for PM

Normal hpHosts blocks a lot of things (like file-sharing websites). Also, blocking malware sites with a hosts file is useless. The malware domains change every day. That's something of an overstatement. Some file sharing sites are blocked, some aren't; my guess is that it takes more than that to wa...

Re: Add Blocker recommandation for PM

Hmm. That's odd, whenever I've tried to disable the caching DNS client, it would break any and all name lookups. Maybe I've done it wrong ;) I took control over all I could with W7 from day 1 (actually, day 3 after the release of the first public Beta). My router handles the DNS from OpenDNS's Lond...

Re: Add Blocker recommandation for PM

I use HpHosts + Peter Lowe's AdServers List (currently my Hosts file is at 12.31MB), installed, managed and updated via HostsMan (http://www.abelhadigital.com/hostsman), W7x64, DNS Client disabled. I've used this setup for some 18 months now and I haven't noticed any problem with it. Any false posit...

Re: Intel or AMD?

Providing the CPU/Mobo/RAM are all compatible, going Intel or AMD, especially towards the lower end of the PC spectrum, should make little difference to many people. A low-end AMD APU (CPU with built in ATI HD graphics) makes a good bang for the buck basic gamer, an Intel i3 will likely crunch numbe...

What happens when you edit/change the Title, can you eventually get the new Topic to show?

Hi, it sounds like a security software may be interfering, which antivirus do you use?

Re: Adobe releases patched Flash (and AIR).

Flash player update time again, this one fixes 3x vulnerabilities and there's an attack in the wild - get 12.0.0.70.

Further information, full installers and the uninstall tools are available via Corrine's Security Garden Blog: http://securitygarden.blogspot.co.uk/20 ... layer.html

Re: Blurry text with hardware acceleration (AMD 5670)

I get the problems stemming from the Platform Update on W7 even with R9/HD7850 GPU's, tried all the 'fixes'/workarounds but only removing the KB and reverting to IE 9 helps. I hadn't realised this is also an issue for W8.1 (or I'd forgotten!). As some of the files changed by the KB were DirectX, hav...

Re: Any difference between Exit and Close ?

Pretty sure Pale Moon doesn't do any kind of data retention in RAM or the paging file - but Windows does - that's how you get faster repeat subsequent of programs per Windows session.

Re: Adobe releases patched Flash (and AIR).

Well Adobe hasn't let us down today - it's another Critical patch ... but it's for the Shockwave Player (if anyone here actually uses that), details at Corrine's blog: http://securitygarden.blogspot.co.uk/20 ... tical.html

Re: Adobe releases patched Flash (and AIR).

I don't think a 'well written' exploit would necessarily need to show any video, a malformed call could just make Flash crash (that sounds familiar ... ) and that might be enough to allow the exploit to get some hooks into memory, game over. This particular exploit may have been around for some time...

Re: Adobe releases patched Flash (and AIR).

We have a Critical Update released for Flash today, as usual, check details and get uninstallers, downloads via Corrine's blog to avoid any 'extras' creeping in: http://securitygarden.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/adobe-flash-player-critical-security.html Adobe has released security updates for Adobe Flash...

Re: A password manager?

Tools < Options > Security tab.

It's possible that an extension is interfering if it's set correctly there (even an old one that's been uninstalled, any changes it made may still be there). Or that your Pale Moon profile has become corrupt. Probably other reasons as well.
