Re: Microsoft Paint to be killed off after 32 years

Maybe after 33-35 years, it's still slated for the next W10 upgrade, 1709.

It'll still be part of W10 1607 until January 2023 for Clover Trail devices (as well as W8.1).

Sometimes I think that and don't bother testing it, ~50% of the time I'm wrong ;)

Re: Problems with steamcommunity.com and cookies

Can you check your Pale Moon cookie settings, esp. the 3rd party + visited settings, and compare them with the other browsers? That might furnish some clues we can work with.

Re: No Video Msnbc.com Pale Moon 27.3

I'm not sure what workaround you're trying to use by disabling MSE, because Hardball at least (as far as I can see) plays just fine with MSE enabled -- it just takes about 10 seconds to start, so you may need to have some patience :) Also plays for me (W7 PM 27.3 x64) using Firefox compatibility an...

Try the routine here: https://malwaretips.com/blogs/safesearch-net-removal/

I'm not sure that's your specific hijacker but the tools/methods used are trusted by me and are much less likely to cause issues later, unlike some alternative 'removal tools'.

Re: Intermittent lock ups

Check that Crimson didn't install Quickstream and/or AppEx Networks Accelerator, some versions did and the latter can affect download speeds - uninstall them, if they're present.

Re: Thread hogging CPU when Pale Moon keeps running for several days

Right now I have this state in a browser with only one empty document tab, and ProcessExplorer shows CPU activity (almost) only in the exe thread. This happened after only few hours, not several days. I visited not much more than the start.me page, some Pale Moon website pages, and some Mozilla add...

Re: Thread hogging CPU when Pale Moon keeps running for several days

I see a consistent CPU activity bump of ~4% on both the Start.me DE and UK pages when in focus (UBO active or disabled), the x4 might only have 20-25% of the grunt of my Xeon so that would mean a big hit on older/weaker PCs.

Works as expected here, W7 PM27.3.0 x64 in Native mode. Test by switching it (Alt) Tools > Options > Advanced > General tab - Compatibility. You can also test your other issues with it.

Re: Large memory comsumption after update to 27

little more than 3GB used Do you often try to minimize the memory usage (about:memory -> "Minimize memory usage")? I open TaskMan as soon as possible (I use it to keep track of Windows boot time) so I have a ready reference, when I notice PM approaching 2GB, I pay a little more attention to the 'fe...

Re: Large memory comsumption after update to 27

27 is just bad with memory. That's just plain wrong . I can run extended sessions with 100+ working tabs open at any one time and not hit a memory problem - up to 19.5 day Pale Moon 27.3.0 uptime last month, little more than 3GB used, lag/slowdowns rare and brief (I also keep Pale Moon open whilst ...

Re: Site rendering

I was installing a Flash upgrade. During the install process, one comes to a screen with three panels. The middle one, where an "offer" is made to install a McAfee product, was blank, but was rendered 100% correctly in Firefox. It also renders 100% correctly in Pale Moon, as indicated on the 14th ....

Clean, full installers are available if you know where to look. Also the Flash uninstaller, useful for clearing out older versions for troubleshooting or before moving up to a new major version. Corrine keeps track of many software/security/MS updates on her Security Garden blog, which can be found ...

Temporarily change the User Agent to Firefox compatibility ((Alt) Tools > Options > Advanced (General tab) > Compatibility dropdown, refresh the Adobe page. When done, you can revert to Native mode.

Re: Radio Stations not playing on Radio.net

W7 PM 27.3 x64, compatibility off (Native mode), just tried a selection of ~12 stations across a range of genres, all sites autoplayed, pause/play/volume controls all worked as expected. I suspect your glitch might be down to *something* systemwide acting differently with PM compared to the more mai...
