Re: When opening PM, it tries to download a file - how to stop?
Check which page(s) is set to load, reads like it's the previous session, if so, reset it to about:blank, close and Exit. Restart to test it's not trying to download, if it's good, reset the start page settings back to your wife's preference.

Re: "Sound & Picture" sites need UA overrides
FTR, if adequately described reports are made to the webmaster, changes can be implemented quite quickly: 1h:12m between emailing a report, the fix being made and the reply today (thanks to all concerned @thinkbroadband.com).

Re: New Outlook.com is dreadfully slow with Palemoon
I'm apparently using (rarely) the 'old' version, I just checked and it's pretty much as you describe, even with uBlockO, a quick glance at the cookies list for it might give some clues, the 2x highlighted ones are definitely Telemetry, I've no clue why they 'need' so many. I suspect there's an awful...

Give him a break please.
He's also waiting for a response at Sysnative: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/window ... s-o-s.html where it's the weekend, just as it is for me.TwoTankAmin wrote:I have to do real life things for a while. *sigh*

Re: I need Windows 7 help
The logged driver is a default W7x64 .dll for certain HP printers, that's about all I can easily tell. Wait for the follow up and they'll start to walk you through the steps to fix that error then move on to diagnose/weigh up the options for any further stages (iirc SFC, System File Checker, doesn't...

Re: I need Windows 7 help
Sounds pretty tricky, esp. without knowing either the cause, or why SFC can't expand a stored version to overwrite the corrupt one. In your position, I'd start by getting the folks at Sysnative to diagnose and work through potential fixes for you: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-update/4736...

Re: "I understand the risks" option removed from security alert page?
What are OCSP settings? Certificate Validation, some are readily found via Pale Moon Commander, others might be changed via about:config. OCSP.jpg Note that I'm still using the temp. cert for AskWoody, bypassed via the option on the default PM cert. warning. It's possible *something* your side has ...

Re: "I understand the risks" option removed from security alert page?
I had the same issue. i was looking for info on an update for Windows 7 over the weekend and as usual I Googled it. My go to site for what comes up is one of the Ask Woody sites. i have been visiting it for a few years. I believe it to be a safe site. When I surfed to it that warning came up withou...

It sounds rather like a 0x117 TDR , where the graphics subsystem has encountered something like a logjam, perhaps the CPU has waited too long for *something* needed by the GPU, resulting in a graphics reset and screen redraw; check the Windows Management Events logs for details of what happened at t...

Re: Probably very silly (beta) security question....
I think that should be: In general, more sec patches apply to v28 than v27 (more code and more features = bigger surface, for one, and it's not got the bake time on the same code as a more tried and tested release). These patches are rolled in when they are prudent, among other development. You are ...

Some of the issues mentioned are actually down to the so-called upgrades on some of the sites mentioned, see the other recent Topics here. We are tryin...

Re: Lower Memory Consumption
I thought the default cache size was still set to 350MB, though the Beta version I'm currently testing has a default of 250MB... By using a RAM drive of 125MB instead of 250MB disk cache, you're freeing ~125MB (-250 in PM but +125 RAM drive) but accessing the 'net a lot more (cache is 'rotating' muc...

When I had ATI/AMD cards ~3-8 years ago, it wasn't too tricky to jury rig a method of installing only the basic drivers for video/gaming/HDMI(/sound): https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-tips-and-tricks/455-updating-amd-ati-cards-drivers-only.html (although the base tutorial article referred/li...

Re: Emergency: craigslist reply button broken
DrKnow (or is that DrDon'tKnow? ;) ) does not equate to "calling you" anything. Using a Beta/unstable version of Pale Moon for access to a single site is a workaround, not a solution. Unlike yourself, I really don't have an agenda. Users who deliberately ignore warnings and continue to twist meanin...
