I seem to remember that this file (search.json.mozlz4) was indeed present in the PM28 versions prior to the final v.28 release, but was actually removed from the final release. Not sure though. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong and this file is not created.

Without forking, there would be neither Pale Moon nor lots of other nice things. I know what you meant, but clearly an unfortunate choice of words.

Did you read the thread? The workaround described 4 posts above your own also works on postoj.sk.

Looks like this is a similar (or same?) issue.

I can only suggest an alternative: Open With (Edge works). Go for version 6.8.1.

Thank you rereser, weird workaround but it works. If you are quick enough to press the bar the first time, the reload can be avoided.

I won't mark this as solved yet, I'll try contacting the website (again) even though I have no clue what's going on and what needs to be fixed.

Thanks - I don't know about those. Comments appear on IE, Edge, FF 68.

If FF ESR also doesn't work, I'd tend to blame the website but can't be really sure.

You are doing something wrong, it is simple to install. There is no "sidebar extension" involved. I agree they are weird, but I wouldn't blame them for unrelated issues.

Looks like comments stopped appearing altogether, so now even the Frame workaround is unavailable.
