That's why better to test with a fresh profile. Could be a problem with an extension not playing well with the updated browser.

Re: Memory management issue
If you use the 'measure' button under 'show memory reports' on about:memory, you'll get a tree view of currently open tabs and their subprocesses, and the memory used, to give you an idea how much each tab is taking. Also note that some sites like Gmail are notorious for hogging memory. I faced the ...

And they didn't get through thanks to you and the others reviewing addon submissions

If we hear about it they will be added to the blocklist.. IF they submit them to our Add-ons Site.. They will be EX-TER-MIN-ATED. You know.. The way Mozilla operated for 10 years before they couldn't be bothered. In general, I doubt anyone making stuff like this would succeed much with our communit...

black An Indian summer is actually much more restrictive and more rare, not just any warm spell after summer. Let me sum it up: As well as being warm, the atmosphere during Indian summer is hazy or smoky , there is no wind , the barometer is standing high , and the nights are clear and chilly . The...

Does this redirect loop also happen by improper cookie handling? I've had a few sites that show just a blank page if you have globally blocked cookies, and user agent overrides didn't help.

Re: Do/did these bugs apply to PM, and is XUL as bad as claimed?
I don't mean exactly the same as driveby downloads, but something alarming enough that it got press coverage on a comparable scale, courtesy an extension. Like recently there were several cases of malicious copycats of popular extensions (exactly the same problem in Android-land). AFAIK there was no...

Re: Do/did these bugs apply to PM, and is XUL as bad as claimed?
You are very wrong. Systems got pwned because of malware extensions. But that's not something that was made big news for obvious reasons. But, this is why the extension blocklist exists (any why disabling it is a very bad idea) so those extensions can be immediately disabled on all systems where th...

Re: Do/did these bugs apply to PM, and is XUL as bad as claimed?
As far as I can tell, there has never been any case of a malicious XUL extension pwning the system with the old Firefox either. Of course, back then they actually reviewed them before publishing instead of vice versa.

Re: Do/did these bugs apply to PM, and is XUL as bad as claimed?
Following Chrome that doesn't care about UI scripting security because, get this, they aren't using the same technologies for their UI, is a dangerous path. The problem with WEs is that they are designed to be content-only. In their design world, running "chrome scripts" doesn't exist, and there is...

Re: butWhyMod - Turn off console messages?
Ugh. Fixed it myself by commenting out the lines. I had raised a bug with the developer earlier about it being non intuitive (who on earth uses a menu item as a status indicator?) but well, crickets. It's a native PM extension, so can't fork it either. I'll upload and post the link to the XPI if that...

butWhyMod - Turn off console messages?
Is it possible to turn off the browser console debug messages being spammed by this extension, or is it something for the extension developer to fix in code only? It's annoying when I'm trying to find something else in the console.

Re: Can't open site
I think it's keyed to the versions that PM was last forked off from (38 I think) and the ones before the extension apocalypse (57). As and when they make major changes it would make sense to update.

Re: Can't open site
And, even sillier, for fb, I see ff99(PM) - a u/a that will never exist. Give it a few months and they'll be in the triple digits. So why not just have override strings (where necessary) to point to latest ff? If you mean a dynamic override that figures out what the latest Firefox version is, that'...

Re: importing bookmarks
How many thousand bookmarks do you have? I don't know, but if I bookmark 5 per day over 6 years, then that's about 11,000 without much effort. It just steadily grows over time. More importantly, how often do you revisit the sites you've bookmarked? The visit date/visit count fields in the bookmark ...

Re: MozArchiver doesn't load images offline
Is the image actually downloaded and present in the maff file? If not or if you can't verify that (I've never used the extension, so can't tell you how) - it's more likely that images are being dynamically loaded by background requests or javascript and are not statically linked in the page, and per...

Re: Can't open site
Is there some copyright type reason why sites that need a u/a override can't simply use a vanilla FF string? Nothing to do with copyright - there's no difference between manually changing the UA and having that as the default, more like adding Pale Moon as an identifier shows that we are on an alte...
