Re: Reader View for Pale Moon

Fatboy, I assume you want to hide the toolbar because it contrasts with the selected color scheme? If so, I can look into changing the colors of those controls as part of the color scheme.

Re: Raptor POWER9 Board

Does not run any o/s you are likely to use and is not compatible with any of the other major technologies out there. Implementation of POWER9 support in the Linux kernel began with version 4.6 in March 2016. RHEL, SUSE, Debian GNU/Linux, and CentOS are supported as of August 2018. Linux support for...

Google Plus Shutting Down

Google is shutting down Google+ for consumers following security lapse

I suspect the "security lapse" is just a pretense for getting rid of a social service that has been ailing for years, and likely was not very cost-effective given its lack of adoption. I'm surprised it took them this long.

Re: Email client (due to Gmail 2018 f*up)

Funny you should ask... Tobin recently started working on a sort-of Thunderbird fork called Interlink. Not sure how heavy it is compared to current revs of Thunderbird, but it can't be any worse.

Re: Mess after update

Hello again, updated allright on my laptop but then the add-ons manager was completely messed up. I have there: "addonsmanagerfix" since to me it looks rather nice. But I suspected at my earlier update problems that that one is the culprit. And it obviously is! I should have uninstalled it before u...

Re: Disable warning

As that option states, turning off the add-on blocklist is generally not a good idea, and is overkill for hiding a single add-on's instability warning.

Re: Reader View for Pale Moon

Updating to PM 28 it went haywire. Please be more specific - what errors or behavior do you see? Any error messages in the console or on the page? Does it work if you disable all other addons? Where can this be found? It is now part of the platform, it's not something you have to add or worry about...

Re: Another reminder of why I avoid (as possible) all things Google

Unfortunately, you as an individual can only do so much. No matter what you do, your efforts will be undermined by others who will share your data without hesitation. Many organizations that have information on you have either sold it or have had it taken from them. Individuals who have you as a con...

Re: Help with XUL overlay error

Usually (but not always) this means that one of the strings you're trying to use isn't defined correctly. Your "pageflip.back" and "pageflip.backtip" strings should be defined in a DTD file, which should then be referenced via a DOCTYPE declaration before your overlay element. DTD: <!ENTITY pageflip...

Re: Another reminder of why I avoid (as possible) all things Google

Seems like Google is backing out a few changes after their power users complained loudly enough: https://www.ghacks.net/2018/09/26/changes-coming-to-chrome-after-chrome-69-controversies 1. The company plans to add a new preference to the privacy and security settings of the browser to disable the li...

Re: Tabs and small stuff

Btw, latest chatzilla got a bug that maybe ambassador has it too, the global setting "show headers" if unmarked doesnt work in any channel, the only way to make the headers disappear is unmark that option for EVERY channel. :/ (i didnt test it) I looked through the repo history, and I can't see any...

Re: Another reminder of why I avoid (as possible) all things Google

And now another one: Google quietly started logging people into Chrome without their consent, and a security expert says it's terrible for privacy I was annoyed enough when they took away the build options for Chromium that allowed building without Sync, WebRTC, and Widevine. But I'm not surprised ...

Re: Uninstalled extension data remaining in about:config

It's normal for extensions to leave behind preferences in about:config, and it's actually beneficial if you decide to reinstall the extension later. However, if you are certain that the preference is controlled by an extension you no longer use and do not wish to use in the foreseeable future, you m...

Re: Address bar search?

TLDR; power users prefer less steps to activate things. Bring back the intuitive UI features that shave time off our days, and don't bury them 15 layers deep. :D As a power user, I'm not sure if I understand what's been "buried" here, but workflows even among power users can vary greatly. For examp...

Re: Extreme browsing speed with automatic AMP page redirect

AMP isn't exactly a standard, it's a Google-made-and-sponsored technology for, as yami_ put it, faster rendering on mobile devices. It's probably doable enough to make something like this with a userscript or XUL extension. If you're looking for ways to view news articles with less clutter, there ar...

Re: Basilisk vs Pale Moon 28.x

Here are the differences I can think of off the top of my head: - Basilisk features an Australis-style interface, rather than the classic one from Pale Moon (if you prefer the classic UI on Basilisk, you can use the Classic Theme Restorer add-on). - Basilisk supports EME, Speech Synthesis (though it...

Re: Tabs and small stuff

Btw, still regarding tabs, did you look at opera 12's source code to see how all of this is done? Maybe you wont have to rewrite the extension just for this. ;) Considering that Opera/Presto's code is C++ while Ambassador uses XUL, XPCOM, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, the code is just not that compara...
