Re: Current search engine icon in search box

After a while I noticed that Classic Theme Restorer seems to cause the browser to get quite sluggish after a while, especially when switching tabs. Since I don't care about the 10 million different configuration options in Classic Theme Restorer, and only wanted the search icon back, this addon did ...

Basilisk vs Pale Moon 28.x

Now that Pale Moon 28 has been released on top of UXP, the question in my mind - what are the differences between Pale Moon and Basilisk, that would drive someone's decision to select one browser or the other. I would assume that the back-end, and web compatibility should be very similar. Is it just...

Re: Current search engine icon in search box

OK, so Classic Theme Restorer add-on has an option to restore the old search box which shows the icon all the time. I wish it was possible to do without resorting to an add-on, but I guess it's what add-ons are for. :)

Current search engine icon in search box

Unlike Pale Moon, Basilisk does not show the icon for the current search engine in the quick search (Ctrl+K) box, only a generic search symbol. I presume this is something changed in the Mozilla core code at some point. It does show it after I start typing, but I still find myself frequently not not...

Re: YouTube downloader extension with Basilisk?

Video Downloader Professional works for me. I have K-Lite Codec Pack installed, but I'm not sure it's required.

Re: How to build Basilisk?

Please make sure the mozconfig you generate is actually being used. Make sure it's named properly and in the correct location. alternatively export MOZCONFIG= with the path to the mozconfig file. Thanks, this fixed it. It just needed to be named .mozconfig, whereas step 7 here suggested copying it ...

Re: Basilisk and Windows Vista

Even more so, to make things compatible with Vista you'd also have to send subsystem 6.0 signals to the windows SDK in use -- which inherently means that 6.1+ specific structures and features will not be used. There is no way to do that without incurring a cost for supported operating systems there...

Re: Basilisk and Windows Vista

To be perfectly frank, Tobin does have a point. It gets really annoying after a while seeing basically the following progression over and over: Us: "We don't support X" You: "But we got it to work with patches A and B" Us: "That's cool, you should fork it if you're serious about supporting X based ...

Re: Basilisk and Windows Vista

Hi, sorry for taking over a month to reply, but it took me a while to get around to it. So far Basilisk appears to be working fine on Vista, out-of-the-box, after merely eliminating some hard-coded limitations in old-configure.in and installer configuration files (basically changing $(AtLeastWin7) t...

Re: How to build Basilisk?

Thank you, guys. Between the two links I found enough information to help me build. It seems that the original Mozilla package I got was missing the start-shell-msvc2015.bat for whatever reason and that was causing my issues. A couple things I still haven't figured out, though they are less importan...

How to build Basilisk?

I'm trying to build Basilisk on Windows from the Github source, but seem to be missing the instructions on how to start. I haven't any experience building Mozilla-based apps before. The README mentions some things, but they all talk about general Mozilla things; is the process for Moebius/Basilisk e...

Re: Basilisk and Windows Vista

The main issue for Vista from us beyond DirectX which as an accelerated application is a key factor is the 3rd party libs dropping Vista support. As you pointed out kernel is also a factor. DirectX is not an issue if you support Win7, since the same DirectX (11) version runs on both. I doubt you ac...

Basilisk and Windows Vista

Yes, I know very few people use Vista, but the question is - what is the technical limitation, if any, that prevents Basilisk from working on it? Vista's kernel is very close to Win7, but some user-level APIs are missing; the question is - does Basilisk actually use any of them? Is it a matter of be...

Saving username/password - TP-Link Routers

Edit: Sorry, realized this probably should go in forum 13 (feature requests). Someone with experience using TP-Link wireless router products may have noticed that in recent years they changed the login prompt to their routers' web interface. Previously it used to pop-up a standard "Enter username/p...

Re: WhatsApp Web again (pasting images from clipboard)

One thing that's not working properly is the ability to paste images from the clipboard.... Funnily, I think it worked erratically once or twice , but generally it does not. I figured out when it works (in Pale Moon) and when it does not. If you copy an image file (an actual file on your drive) int...

Re: WhatsApp Web again (pasting images from clipboard)

Please understand that we are a bunch of nerds that work for the love of art and most of us do not get a payment. So we need to made a list and seek what bug or feature need to be fixed or added. Re: WhatsApp Web again (pasting images from clipboard)

How does one proceed to determine what's going wrong? I.e., is it the JS on the server side or a missing implementation on the browser end?

Text copy&paste works on Whatsapp Web (and Telegram Web). Image paste works for me only on Telegram Web. I have not tried Facebook.

WhatsApp Web again (pasting images from clipboard)

Generally, since the transition to Pale Moon 27, most functionality of Whatsapp Web interface has been working well. One thing that's not working properly is the ability to paste images from the clipboard. The functionality works in the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox, using any of the followi...

Bloomberg.com - chart scaling does not work

The chart scaling on the Bloomberg.com stock market quotes stopped working for me in Pale Moon recently. Example: http://www.bloomberg.com/quote/USGG10YR:IND Above the chart you can click 1D, 1M, 1Y or 5Y to have the zoom switch accordingly. Now, clicking does nothing. This used to work but no more....

Re: Target.com:Palemoon 26.3.3 in Windows 7 & Debian 8.2

^^^ Precisely. That's just how it is. Standards aside, what sets the tone is popularity. Back in the day where 90% of web traffic was Internet Explorer, websites catered mostly to it, and webmasters pretty much only tested on it, so that was the standard - if it works in IE, good, and who cares if t...
