Re: What's the limit for freedom of speech?

@Isengrim: Your examples fall under common sense for pretty much anyone as not a free speech matter. "Sure, I did yell fire in crowded theatre, but you can't blame me for all those people stomped to death. Freedom of speech, right? I can say anything I want. It's their fault for panicking. And for n...

Re: Palemoon becoming more sluggish as the day progesses?

It's about the same for me. But it's hard to say, because if it depends on specific sites, it's almost impossible to pinpoint it for me, as I visit a lot of different ones. And it's not like the moment I visit the "right" one, there's a bang and PM is suddenly slow, it's adding up. All I know for su...

Re: What's the limit for freedom of speech?

Problem with freedoms and rights is that people have the craziest ideas about what they supposedly have. Currently very popular "right to not be offended" is wonderful example. It doesn't exist, because it's logical nonsense. What a person is offended by is a choice. I can choose to be offended by a...

Re: Palemoon becoming more sluggish as the day progesses?

This means that if I open a lot of new tabs quickly (eg. from a search engine) PM will stall and cpu usage goes skyhigh. I then have to close some of the tabs to get the other pages loading, but even this give me a sluggish PM. That's to be expected, loading and rendering page requires resources, i...

Re: Palemoon becoming more sluggish as the day progesses?

@PalleP: No Gmail here. But if it does something that PM doesn't like, another site can do the same thing too. It's hard to find what exactly it could be, especially for someone like me, who uses browser a lot and visits large number of websites every day.

Re: Palemoon becoming more sluggish as the day progesses?

Pale Moon obviously has some memory leaks and/or similar issues. It looks to me that way too, not exactly memory leaks, but as if something got stuck in the background. It looks like it may be at least two different issues, but often it's the combination of both: a) High CPU usage. First what comes...

Re: MS Edge Morphs To Chrome/Chromium?

... the standard will literally be the one implementation of the standards and nothing else. It would be bad and dangerous for web, it's too big to depend only on one implementation. But I have to say, as someone who used to have web development as main job (since last century to about six years ag...

Re: How do you all keep browsing sessions with hundreds of tabs?

If you can recall even a small part of the title or URL of the page you're looking for, you can type it in the addressbar and it will be picked up from your browser history in addition to bookmarks. It doesn't work for my use case. There are either things I know what they were, e.g. I was searching...

Re: How do you all keep browsing sessions with hundreds of tabs?

Do you also have 100+ word documents open in Microsoft Word or 100+ spreadsheets open in Excel.. It's different. To have 100+ open documents in Word, I'd need to open 100+ files. I don't need to do anything to have 100+ open tabs in browser, they are carried automatically from previous browsing ses...

Re: How do you all keep browsing sessions with hundreds of tabs?

In the past, I liked to start with clean/empty browser, no tabs at all. If I wanted to keep something for later, I bookmarked it. But it didn't really work well, because bookmarks are somehow hidden, out of sight. Then I tried to keep that interesting tab or two open, instead of bookmarking them, an...

And I was about to declare v28 upgrade flawless. :( Damn it. Forced per-tab findbar was one of the things that drove me from FF to PM years ago. The linked issue doesn't sound very much that it could be fixed, does it?

Re: You need a sense of humor to live in the digital age

Welcome to 2018! I guess not having cell phone is something they simply can't grasp, because everybody has one. Except you, and even that's not true, because you do have it. :) I don't have smartphone myself, only dumbphone that can do only voice and sms (and sucks at the latter). I'm less secretive...

Re: Is Mozilla's new DNS feature really dangerous?

Is DOH really a solution to circumvent Internet censorship (by government)? No. All these technologies only protect DNS. But if we're talking about web browsing, they do nothing for privacy. Http connections contain hostname (and full URL) in plaintext, so anyone on the way (e.g. ISP) can see it. E...

It's only wrong filename, but content is ok. The image url is http://assets.amuniversal.com/be4233905cca01363f8f005056a9545d, but name should come from header (Content-Disposition: inline; filename="dt180805.jpg"). Re: Captchas hell

There's one thing I discovered recently by accident... Originally when clicking on the "I'm not robot" checkbox, I just clicked and waited. I didn't move a mouse by single pixel, because why would I. And then I had to go through at least three (but usually even more) store front, traffic signs and w...

Crashes with recent versions

My PM used to be rock-solid for years, but since few versions back (according to AppCrashView, 27.4.0 was the first one), it started to crash. Not very often (~ five times a week) and not reproducibly. Sometimes it seems like it comes out of nowhere, but mostly it happens when there is some change i...

Re: The Windows 10 mega-thread!

Could all of this be having any effect on Microsoft's thinking about Windows 10? You wish. I'm affraid that MS went completely mad. Every time I see some new "progress" with Windows 10, it's another piece of good old and most importantly working part of UI transformed into this claustrophobic exper...

@ Sun-Glasses : You have some valid concerns, but no good solution for most important ones, namely (1) and (2). Starting with (2), yes, development team is small and how successfully it will be able to handle big future challenges is a question. But what can you do about that? Extensions are closely...

Re: Include the new Firefox search into Pale Moon!

For comfortable use of non-default search engine, there is something even better than what Firefox has (although currently it looks like it's more "was" than "is", see below) - an addon called Quick Search Bar. It puts icons for search engines in search bar like this: quick-search-bar.png You click ...

Re: Why I am not ready for the New Pale Moon ver 27.x

Look at it this way: New versions fix older known bugs, and also add new ones, yet to be discovered. So by staying with old version, you do avoid new bugs, that's right. But you're left with old ones and everybody knows about them. That doesn't sound very safe, does it? I do believe that bad people ...
