Re: Recommended Linux distro for an Acer Aspire One netbook?

If you're after stability, then Debian with XFCE. Xubuntu should be good as well, and be easier to setup, however from what I've read Ubuntu 18.04 has been bashed pretty hard for the issues it has ( likelly fixed mostly for the 18.04.1 ). Anyhow, I'd personally stick to Debian. It's rock solid after...

Anyhow, are you sure that the: patch -p0 < ~/allow-sslkeylogfile.patch ... actually does the job right? I'm not saying that you're wrong here, it's just that I never had to resort to the whole "quilt add" way ( and I have patched and built a sh*t load of packages )... Quilt would always detect and ...

Re: UXP and system requirements (discussion thread)

As it turns out though, it seems that GTK2 code is perfectly viable as a target in the platform code (I was initially thinking it wasn't) so it will be very possible to build either GTK2 and GTK3 XUL applications on it in that case by passing the appropriate build parameters. This also means that P...

Re: Suggestion: Develop all platforms against Qt instead of GTK3.

The big problem is that every new vesion of GTK will probably break the APIs and the interface, causing lot of graphical issues, that means much time and work by developers for fix these problems: so, a lot of time and strenghts wasted by developers for make their application able to work again. I'...

The usual: - uBlock - NoSquint - FlashGot ( with uGet ) - Stylish ( keeping them eyes happy at night time since forever ) The good: - Custom Buttons ( "about:*" pages one click away ) And the one risen to a must-have level: - wheelclear Used to clear any input field ( webpage & UI ) just by rolling ...

I am now browsing with Pale Moon that I built, and it is logging SSL-keys! Glad to hear, congratulations!!!  Dear filip, are you aware that without your help I would still be plodding through manuals and things, and at least a day or two away from having compiled this Pale Moon that...

Re: Building Pale Moon on Devuan fails

I'm afraid I cannot be of much help when it comes to grsecurity kernel, however it would certanly be a good idea to boot into default 3.16 just to verify that the issue is actually with the kernel, and not with the PM build itself! ;) :) @quilt: Well, that thing does tend to be mind boggling at time...

Re: Building Pale Moon on Devuan fails

You're welcome! :) I have 16G of memory, it's not that, I don't think. But I don't know either... Yeah, RAM is not the issue then... First I'll be, actually I am, looking into where to try and stick: --disable-precompiled-startupcache When building debian package, that should go into "mozconfig", fo...

Re: Building Pale Moon on Devuan fails

I don't know which CPU/march are you building for, but I had the same issue with the startupcache precompilation for as long as I can remember when building for AMD Ahtlon II (-march=amdfam10) on an Intel machine. Solved by compiling on the target PC with "-mach=native" ( for some reason compiling w...

Re: Branding design contest discussions

I'm not going to re-brand Pale Moon to Palemoon just because some whingers still live in the early '90s and don't want to use a space in a path that they don't even need to enter manually. And you guys still aren't reading. This branding is not for Pale Moon. It is for a new, Firefox-Australis-base...

Re: Github questions

@Fedor2: As Moonchild said, "git cherry-pick" is your best friend here. Since you haven't provided any details it's hard to be specific, so please tell us which commits, from which branch and where to are you trying to apply them ( onto which branch )!? For the sake of example, I'll assume here that...

Re: Do you percept that GNOME 3 is wrong in its UI core philosophy?

IMO, on many ( read: most ) levels yes, but not entirely so. I think that the biggest, let's say mistake, is that they've simply dropped a perfectly usable desktop for something that's neither a full fledged desktop nor a full fledged mobile/tablet UI ( hell, it's not even used on anything mobile, A...

Re: Mozilla described the plan to destroy Firefox in detail

... The whole "new menu" is still mobile-centric (for a desktop browser...) ... Hate to make a negative first post, but I must agree with Moonchild here and say that, while this proposed FF UI is certanly an improvement compared to Australis in general, GTK3 Popover/Non-cascading menu style is an u...
