PM 25.6: Can not COPY (or Paste) in Google Spreadsheets
Hi all!
Problem:
PM 25.6/Ubuntu Linux 12.04:
Can not COPY (or PASTE) cell contents
in any Google Spreadsheet.
Nothing gets copied to Clipboard...
+info:
1 - copy and paste works 100% fine in latest FF browser.
2 - restarted PM 25.6 with no addons...same exact problem.
3 - problem happens in ANY Google Spreadsheet (mine or public)
4 - Copy and Paste works ok in Gmail and other Google sites...
Here's a public Google spreadsheet example...
(try to copy some cell contents
and paste to another cell - or - to a text editor...)
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... li=1#gid=0
short URL: https://goo.gl/urKlzc
Does it work for you?

Re: PM 25.6: Can not COPY (or Paste) in Google Spreadsheets
No problem copying stuff from that spreadsheet, there seems to be a problem with the context menu, that conflicts with Pale Moons context menu but marking a cell or several cells, copying them using CTRL+C and pasting them into a text editor was no problem.
Re: PM 25.6: Can not COPY (or Paste) in Google Spreadsheets
Thanks f/that quick reply, Sven.
CTRL+C cell content
and pasting into a text editor (or another GSS cell)
doesn't work in my PM.
(=clipboard empty...).
Same using the copy in the GSS "Edit" menu.
Hmm...I wonder what else I can try
to Copy & Paste in the GSS...
Any suggestions?

Re: PM 25.6: Can not COPY (or Paste) in Google Spreadsheets
Same here. I.e., I'm not having any 'copy/paste/...etc.' issues either in google docs. With a couple caveats...SvenG wrote:No problem copying stuff from that spreadsheet, there seems to be a problem with the context menu, that conflicts with Pale Moons context menu but marking a cell or several cells, copying them using CTRL+C and pasting them into a text editor was no problem.
As far a I know(?) 'doc.google.com' is deprecated. Google prefers users use: https://drive.google.com/ .
Also. I'm running a couple of useragent overrides in PM in reference to google...
string name 0:
Code: Select all
general.useragent.override.drive.google.com
Code: Select all
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:33.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/33.0 (Pale Moon)
string name 1:
Code: Select all
general.useragent.override.encrypted.google.com
Code: Select all
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:33.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/33.0 (Pale Moon)
(Pale Moon Linux x86_64; rv:25.6
Linux Mint 17.2 Rafaela)
.
Re: PM 25.6: Can not COPY (or Paste) in Google Spreadsheets
Thanks f/the suggestions, Marty.
1) Tried:
https://drive.google.com/
but it still defaults to: docs.google.com...
2) Ok - the User Agent strings are in about:config
Will try that (carefully),
and report in a while
if it helped w/the GSS copy/paste problem in PaleMoon...

Re: PM 25.6: Can not COPY (or Paste) in Google Spreadsheets
OK - I added these 2 Name/Strings (as suggested),
via about:config:
general.useragent.override.drive.google.com
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:33.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/33.0 (Pale Moon)
and:
general.useragent.override.encrypted.google.com
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:33.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/33.0 (Pale Moon)
logged out and back in to Google.
Result:
Unfortunately, this did not help
with the Google SS Copy/Paste problem in PM,
so I Removed/Deleted
these 2 entries just added via about: config.
Any other ideas/suggestions/pointers
from my fellow Palemooners?
Hey! Google is the company that brought us
driverless cars
...surely we can make the Copy & Paste work in their spreadsheets in Pale Moon.

That sucks. I must have them there then for some other issue?SfdudePM wrote:I added these 2 Name/Strings

Do:Additional Question:
how do I now Remove/Delete
these 2 entries I just added via about: config ?
Code: Select all
about:config
Then do a search for:
Code: Select all
useragent.override.
Be careful with that 'Reset' option!
.
Re: PM 25.6: Can not COPY (or Paste) in Google Spreadsheets
Thanks Marty.
That's exactly what I just did (VERY carefully!).
See my post above...

Re: PM 25.6: Can not COPY (or Paste) in Google Spreadsheets
Good luck with that. Google is pretty unresponsive to 'helping'... especially 'other browsers'.SfdudePM wrote:...

Next suspect would be an installed extension(s) which might be causing of your issue.Any other ideas/suggestions/pointers
from my fellow Palemooners?
First thing you could do is start Pale Moon in 'safe-mode', log into google and try the Copy/Cut/Paste again...
In a terminal window:
Code: Select all
palemoon -safe-mode
Or try a 'clean' profile. Again in a terminal window:
Code: Select all
palemoon -ProfileManager
That's about all I can think of? Unless someone else here in the forums has also run into this issue with google docs ... and a workaround?
.
Re: PM 25.6: Can not COPY (or Paste) in Google Spreadsheets
Yes, I did start PM in "Safe Mode", (all addons disabled).
But that didn't help.
So, it's not an addon...
What is baffling,
it works perfectly in Firefox!
I agree with you
about the Googlian level of cooperation.
Not good.
Anyhow, thanks again, Marty.
Let's hope somebody else chimes in later!
