Solved "Null" condition

Unread post by Uppity » 2015-06-03, 23:33

I'm running PM Version: 25.4.1 (x64).
I'm also running Linux Minr 17.1 and the kernel 3.16.0-37.

Last week, I visited a site for arranging international flights.

I was unable to close some tabs, after leaving the site, and I seem to recall an error message indicating a "Null" condition. I had to restart PM to get them to go away. I have not been back to that site.

I have the extension: Download Status Bar and there is a "Null" condition on download notifications, for which I can not close the 'tabs'. There are currently 3 and they persist between boot sessions.

I can close the extended status bar, but not the individual download notifications.

FWIW, CraigsList is working fine, with this version. Hovering over images presents those images in the normal way.

Is it operator error with a remedy?

Could you provide more information such as url for problem site? Where did the Null condition error appear?

Hi, trava90.

This is the 2 sites, from the 7 day history:

Find Cheap Tickets - Save Big!
http://www.cheapair.com/air/?fpid=dwjuw ... lqb25cifq5
http://www.cheapoair.com/flights/

The problem occurred on the first one shown, as I recall.

The Null condition appeared as I was searching for flights from the US to the Philipines. It seems we got one good search result before PM locked up on a subsequent search.

We were on a timed public wifi. It was late and possible that the facility was updating, which takes priority over the available band width.

I do not know if time expired, if updates were running, or something else occured.

I just visited the site you posted, and wasn't able to reproduce the problem. Have you tried the site with a new profile?

trava90, I was on a public wifi, so it must have been either a glitch in my system or someone was trying to hack into my computer.

No similar problems after restarting the browser, or since then. Just the Extension: Download Status Bar. I removed it and will be reinstalling it, since the "Null" condition remains on download notifications. Most of the settings in about:config for this extension have 'null' as the value.

I seem to have more computer troubles this year, since an update moved Firefox from v.28 to the more current v.33 or some such. Could be that I'm resistant to spending too much time on trouble shooting...

I haven't had too much of a browser issue other than loss of right click options, on one site.

Some of this could be due to the advanced kernel 3.16.0-37, I suppose.

Thank you for checking it out.

Glad it seems to have sorted it self out. :) If you do continue to have problems with this in the future I would suggest trying a new profile.

The problem seems to have been failed downloads.
It happened again, this time with google talk plug ins.

Removing, then reinstalling the next day did nothing to help, this time.

Both files were showing null content on the extended status bar.
No ability to remove the entries from the extended status bar.

Knowing the source, it was easy to track down the location and delete them.
Success. No more files that can not be cleared with the brush icon.
