Concerning Flash Protected Mode in Linux
I have a couple of questions regarding Protected Mode for Flash in Linux. First, is turning off Protected Mode necessary (or desired) in Linux? And second, if it is, where do you find the mms.cfg file in Linux?

Re: Concerning Flash Protected Mode in Linux
Protected mode was first introduced in Flash 11.3, while the latest version for Linux is 11.2 (unless you use the Fresh Player Plugin, which I do not believe uses protected mode either).
The mms.cfg should be in /etc/adobe

Thanks trava90. And catfish looks good . . . probably install later today (right now I'm in Windows).

I don't have an Adobe folder under /etc . I used catfish to search for an Adobe folder and it found none. Then did a search for the mms.cfg file and it didn't find that either. What's up?

I don't think that a mms.cfg file is created automatically. You might have to manually create it in /etc/adobe.

Re: Concerning Flash Protected Mode in Linux
I don't have an Adobe folder in /etc . Is that normal? But I guess the whole topic is moot since there's no need to disable flash protected mode in Linux. I'm just curious.
Re: Concerning Flash Protected Mode in Linux
In Linux Mint (and I assume ubuntu?) the 'adobe-flashplugin' _does_not_ create an '/etc/adobe' directory.
But (in Mint) there is a '$HOME/.adobe' directory, but I find no 'mms.cfg' file? Possibly 'mms.cfg' existed in the $HOME/.macromedia' directory, but I deleted that directory after moving to the 'freshplayerplugin' package and using pepperflash with PM?
.
Code: Select all
dpkg -L adobe-flashplugin
.

Re: Concerning Flash Protected Mode in Linux
The mms.cfg is not always created automatically. So if it doesn't exist and you want to use it, all you have to do is create one using the text editor of your choice.
