media.autoplay.enabled

Unread post by arromdee » 2016-04-16, 08:31

This is actually a combination of an extension problem and a non-extension problem so I could post it in extensions if needed.

Set media.autoplay.enabled to false. Go to Youtube. The video plays anyway.

Also, for the Firefox equivalent, see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=659285

I tried using two different Youtube blocker extensions (Stop Youtube Autoplay 1.0.3.1 and StopTube 0.2.1.1. Those do not help; the video is blocked the *first* time I go to Youtube, but once I am on Youtube and go to a second video's page, the video still autoplays. The extensions work on Firefox and block the second video as well.

For YouTube and other sites that use purely scripted players, you also need to set media.autoplay.allowscripted to false.
