New Installation - won't activate mail setup / imports
New Installation - won't activate mail setup / imports
I have installed Fossamail 25.1.4 x64 (twice). No success in either setting up email accounts or importing. Screen just freezes. Turned off Avira (anti virus) didn't help. Running Palemoon - works perfectly.
Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum!
Did you try the 32bit version?

I have the same problem.
Have now tried 32bit.
Still same problem.
On the welcome screen, the Create-Account-Link does nothing.
Vie the File-Add-Account-menu I can get to the account dialog
and enter account data for mail and news.
But I can't use them.
"Get mail" does nothing.
The left area, where probably the account+folder-tree should appear, is empty.

Please let us know if you are using a language pack? If so, can you try switching to English and see if that works?

No, I don't have language packs.
And no special AV.
Windows 8.1.
Just tryed it on my laptop, same problem.
25.1.3-64 works.

Re: New Installation - won't activate mail setup / imports
And now I've installed 25.1.4 over it,
and it still works!
and it still works!
Re: New Installation - won't activate mail setup / imports
That's really peculiar...
I'll have to investigate, but I'm not entirely sure where to start.
It seems to just be with a fresh installation, then and if a profile is already created, it all works?
This might take some time to get to the bottom of.

Re: New Installation - won't activate mail setup / imports
I'll be rolling back the latest release, as I've been able to reproduce the issue and it pretty much prevents usage of the client on new installations. Apologies for the inconvenience, please install 25.1.3 and use it for the time being while I sort out the issue.

Re: New Installation - won't activate mail setup / imports
OK. FYI:
After I installed 25.1.3 on my desktop PC,
it immediately downloads my mail and shows it -
twice, the same account appears twice in the list!
Seems that 25.1.4. saved the profile and all account data I entered, in multiple tries,
but was unable to use it.

Thanks, there's just a single snag somewhere it seems. I'm sure we'll find it

I tried loading the 64x version of Thunderbird with the same negative results. Running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.

As stated above, please try 25.1.3 and see if that works for you.Gloriana wrote:I tried loading the 64x version of Thunderbird with the same negative results. Running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.

He's reporting about Thunderbird now.
That would mean the problem is not introduced by FossaMail.

Re: New Installation - won't activate mail setup / imports
It was introduced by FossaMail 25.1.4, and in FossaMail only, because of telemetry code having been pulled out of Pale Moon that it builds on.ikar-us wrote:He's reporting about Thunderbird now.

Thunderbird cannot be affected, because it builds on Firefox code and telemetry is present in both front- and back-end there.
