Pale Moon v24 localization strings

Unread post by Moonchild » 2013-09-06, 08:51

For pale Moon 24, a few more localizations are needed to fill in the gaps left by code removed in Firefox.

I'll upload the relevant .dtd file to babelzilla as well, but here is the same file attached for folks who prefer not to use babelzilla.
Please make sure not to do double work, and grab the language pack of v20.* for your language to see which strings are already translated.

Here is the French localization.

EDIT:
All terms have been translated.

Note to Moonchild:

Many strings have an apostrophe in them. I have kept the straight apostrophe as it has been used everywhere else. If it poses a problem, it might well be replaced by the curly typographical apostrophe, which is actually nicer, though not consistent with the rest of the interface. This is the curly apostrophe: ’

Hi mgagnonlv,

About Quickdial, go to Pale Moon and enter this URL: about:newtab and hit Enter. That's the Quickdial page. The term is taken from proprietary phones, which they use to have a quick dial function, to fast call your main contacts with just 1 or 2 button pushes away [your main contacts' phone numbers must be saved in the phone's memory previously]. In Spanish it's Marcado rápido, which I think in French it'd be something as Numérotation rapide — at least in France's French, I don't know about Canada's French.

Thanks. I had seen the page; I just didn't know how it was called.

Numérotation rapide or Composition rapide as we would most likely see it in Canada fits well with portable phones. But those expressions – especially the first one – have a connotation of "pushing digits", whereas one typically types a name to visit a website.

Besides, I don't have a so-called intelligent phone, so I do not know how they have translated the feature.

I had first left the word "Quickdial" in place, but a look at your Mexican translation gave me the idea: "why not translate according to what it does". Hence : la page d'accès rapide.

I have updated the translation (a few posts up) to reflect the change.

Actually, in the case of Mozilla Firefox based web browser's, Quickdial function isn't related to "type" a name, but to "click" on a webpage's thumbnail.

Don't worry about this — Every mobile OS call this kind of function with their own name.

Great! I like la page d'accès rapide. ;) Just a quick note: I'm not the author of the Mexican localization. Its author is lobocursor. I'm the guy behind the Argentine one.

Have a nice weekend!

Uploaded to Babelzilla now as well - I've already included the currently submitted translations here, as well.

Darnit, there was one string missing in the english DTD file, the placeholder for "search tabs" text in the graphical tab switching pane.

I updated the file.

EDIT: for a quick edit, here's the string:

Code: Select all

<!ENTITY allTabs.filter.emptyText "Search Tabs">

Thanks.

It is the way I stated it. (so NOT palemoon.*)

I don't want to change the name of the control, it may have some dependencies, and I am too far along in the development cycle to do a dependency walk and change code.

And you can just tell me the translation -- I'll put it into the file manually.

Gotcha.

Sweet! Just replace Search Tabs by Buscar en pestañas. Thanks for this!

I found some that still are in English:

That would be a problem with the Firefox langpack it's based on. I'll see if they have updated this, since it's not part of Pale Moon's additional core strings, but if not I'll manually add this.

EDIT: I just had a look at the es-MX Firefox language pack, there's a lot more there that isn't translated at all, at least in the beta langpacks I've used (although most of the features they are for, are from earlier Firefox versions)...

So I gather Mozilla doesn't have a designated es-MX translator at the moment :P
