[pt-PT] Verification request

Unread post by Moonchild » 2013-02-18, 10:22

I'm currently doing the language packs for v19.0, and have a quick question.

I noticed in BabelZilla the following:

Code: Select all

<!ENTITY palemoon.sendLinkCmd.label "Enviar Link...">
<!ENTITY palemoon.sendLinkCmd.accesskey "d">
<!ENTITY palemoon.sendPageCmd.label "Enviar Página...">
<!ENTITY palemoon.sendPageCmd.accesskey "e">
Originally in the Mozilla language pack for these new strings, is the following:

Code: Select all

<!ENTITY palemoon.sendLinkCmd.label "Enviar ligação...">
<!ENTITY palemoon.sendLinkCmd.accesskey "v">
<!ENTITY palemoon.sendPageCmd.label "Enviar endereço...">
<!ENTITY palemoon.sendPageCmd.accesskey "l">
Which of the two would be better? I would think that "endereço" is better, "Página" sound more Spanish than Portuguese to me (for what limited knowledge I have)
Also note the access keys (hotkeys) for the choices are different, and they should be letters that are both unused by other entries in the context menu that would be visible at the same time, and they should be present in the actual text displayed (or they won't be marked). So, "v" and "e" respectively should be more logical there"... :?:

Someone other than me changed <!ENTITY palemoon.sendLinkCmd.accesskey "d"> and <!ENTITY palemoon.sendPageCmd.accesskey "e"> to "v" and "v", respectively. Not quite sure if I understood your explanation regarding access keys though, especially since they have been changed without any sort of note.

"Página" is Portuguese alone, no Spanish there, and is a more accurate translation, therefore it was revised. Additionally, there are a few terms that could be translated, like "Link" to "Ligação", so there was no need to retain the original word, mainly because the translated word is used alongside "Link".

All right, so what do you suggest then? This?

Code: Select all

    <!ENTITY palemoon.sendLinkCmd.label "Enviar Ligação...">
    <!ENTITY palemoon.sendLinkCmd.accesskey "v">
    <!ENTITY palemoon.sendPageCmd.label "Enviar Página...">
    <!ENTITY palemoon.sendPageCmd.accesskey "e">

Regarding the labels, yes.

About the accesskeys, I seem to recall "v" and "e" were the original ones, I have no idea why they were changed, and I actually thought it was your doing :)

Well it got lost somewhere with the WTS exploding on me when I tried to update the dtd file :P

EDIT: pt-PT has been updated with the above suggestion now.

So, at the time being, I'm not exactly at ease with BabelZilla.

I'm fine with either way - as long as the file is saved in the proper encoding, it's perfectly all right to just upload here.
