[solved]FinderBar Tweak not working with German localization

Unread post by SvenG » 2014-10-24, 11:41

Enabling FinderBar Tweak with the German Localization enabled results in
XML-Verarbeitungsfehler: Nicht definierte Entität
Adresse: chrome://findbartweak/content/options.xul
Zeile Nr. 6, Spalte 1:<prefwindow xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gateke ... s.only.xul"
^
when trying to open the preferences.

Steps to reproduce:
1. create blank profile
2. download and install German localization, enable in about:config and restart PM
3. install FinderBar Tweak
4. open FinderBar Tweak preferences, e.g., from about:addons

I have tried a few other language packs (but by far not all) and it seems that it's only the German one, that isn't working. Hard to guess which of it is causing the problem, could be borked in both. I had FindBar Tweak installed in 24.7 with the German language pack and it worked but both got changed. However, when installing the original FindBar Tweak it doesn't work but the options are displayed correctly.

It's likely an issue in the extension localization itself. Maybe a chrome.manifest or similar typo, Tobin?

I have tried to adjust setting using the default language and switch back to German afterwards but in that case it isn't working at all (not even an error message). I will see if I can alter chrome.manifest to get it work.

EDIT: chrome.manifest says
locale findbartweak-en en-US chrome/locale/en-US/
locale findbartweak en-US chrome/locale/en-US/
locale findbartweak de chrome/locale/de/
locale findbartweak de-DE chrome/locale/de/
locale findbartweak pl chrome/locale/pl/
locale findbartweak pt-PT chrome/locale/pt-PT/
locale findbartweak sv-SE chrome/locale/sv-SE/
locale findbartweak zh-CN chrome/locale/zh-CN/
But there are no localization files in chrome/locale/ other than the en-us

I have corrected the oversight in chrome.manifest. However, because of the limited lingual resources FinderBar is an en-US only product for the foreseeable future. This may of course change however but that is going to have to suffice for now.

The updated version is on the site. Version 1.2.3, Sorry for the inconvenience.

As long as it works it's fine for me, not changing the options that often and they are not overly complicated. However, if I find the time I can have a look at the language files later (which is more likely to happen next month than next week).

Thanks, Tobin, excellent support
