Maybe "View Source" could be hard-coded to the View Menu ?

Unread post by delicacy » 2014-11-01, 00:54

I moved "View page source" from the context menu to the bottom of the view menu,
in pale moon v25.0.2, using the "menu wizard" addon, and i don't know if the context
menu option already worked in the beginning, but in the View menu, it was inactive .. .

The official command being ctrl+u..

So i removed that submenu item & had to install an addon for that:
"Restore view source for firefox v6+" .. .

I always had it in the view menu before, & i'm used to verify entire page sources from the View menu,
so i thought, maybe it could be hard-coded to palemoon instead of using an addon for such purpose .. .
Since i believe it's part of the browser's functionalities.

Ps: it's like the getting old "like the bug892485_preventscrollonhistory 1.1" addon.. that unfortunately,
the firefox team is taking forever to resolve, i think those fixes shouldn't be in the addons section.

My opinion:
View Page Source must stay in the context menu, it's been there a long time, and that is where many of us look for it, and is also there for Chromium, Opera and IE. Of course with Menu Wizard any of us can move things around as we please.

it must ? oh .. .
& for me "view source" is an analyze function, not anything i use regularly in the main context menu, & if i follow you,
i should as well move all my tools menu's references to the context menu to overcharge it .. .

also, i wonder where the author of "Restore view source for firefox v6+" .. . addon comes from, he, i & many people who had it in the view menu
from several previous firefox versions should get the thumb down too .. .

i stick to my opinion.

In context menu is fine, since it make there more sense.
The view menu for me is for tools which analyze deep the website but the view source is not one of the deep analyze tools.

So no, i disagree.

View Source is in the "Web developer" menu (Web Developer -> Page Source), where it belongs.
It doesn't belong in the "View" menu, because that controls UI features.
