Search with whole word option

Unread post by Lassar » 2016-06-21, 22:24

One thing, that has annoyed me for years, is search without the whole word option.

Fore example, I am trying to find the abbreviation "ime", and I get "timers" instead.

How about adding whole word option to the search in Pale Moon.

You can search using spaces so if you want <space>ime<space> use the space bar, it will require you to open the search bar with Ctrl+f as <spacebar> will not trigger "Search for text when I start typing".

Well if we are talking about Find, there's actually a bug relating to it. The plan is to give Find the option to only search for a specific whole word. Such as "dog" and not "doggy" to the added results.

Here's the relating bugs, I believe: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=269442 and https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1487. This would be a great enhancement.

Also see here for a better interpretation/information: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Search_for_whole_words_only.
With Pale Moon by my side, surfing the web is quite enjoyable and takes my headaches away! :)
