Adblock Plus blocked.

Unread post by Moonchild » 2015-08-03, 23:42

We've had to block Adblock Plus due to ongoing issues with Pale Moon 25+. Adblock Latitude is your go-to!

Note and update: This block has been made optional&recommended to follow, despite the known issues with it, but please understand that continued use is completely unsupported by us.

People who have somehow missed all the announcements and posts previously about the compatibility issues with ABP may be surprised to see the pop-up in the browser, but it's been required to block ABP in the browser now due to the ongoing issues it causes by not being fully compatible with Pale Moon and the developers not wanting to support Pale Moon.

Adblock Latitude (ABL), our fork and drop-in replacement for ABP, is your go-to if you used ABP until now. It will have all the familiarity and flexibility of ABP and is actively maintained as a Pale Moon specific alternative, and will pick up all your ABP filters automatically.

Well, people, there you have it: If you insist you want to continue using ABP as an unsupported combination with Pale Moon, you can. The blocklist has been updated to make this use optional with a warning of known stability issues with Pale Moon.

Please do understand that if you go to addons.mozilla.org to (re-)install ABP, that it may serve you a very old version due to a bug on their website that they have still not fixed.
Please go to the version information -> all versions, and get 2.6.6.1 if you insist on using ABP; just clicking the green button on the add-on page will likely give you a 2.0 version that is very, very old.

Once again, we cannot and will not provide support for this known-incompatible combination of browser and extension. Please do use Adblock Latitude or an alternative blocker when you are able.
